How to inspect a property?

BZ

July 16

During our next trip to Japan we will be visiting a few old houses we have shortlisted for purchase. Our idea is to buy a place we can live in and do DIY renovation (to the extent of our abilities). Any idea of what kind of thing we should look out for? How do you evaluate if a house has good renovation potential?

Check for woodrot, molds, unevenness, tilted walls, bad smells, high humidity in the walls / around foundation.

To inspect a property, start by assessing the exterior, checking the roof, walls, windows, and foundation for damage or wear. Examine the interior for signs of leaks, mold, cracks, and structural issues. Test electrical outlets, plumbing fixtures, and heating/cooling systems for proper function. Inspect the attic and basement for insulation, ventilation, and potential water damage. Consider the property's overall layout, size, and location, noting any repairs or updates needed. Review the neighborhood and proximity to essential services. Finally, consult a professional inspector for a detailed report, especially if buying the property.

So is this a service provided by All Akiyas such as a realtor or point of contact to gain access to a property?
